Breast Lift

Sagging breasts may be caused by several factors -- congenital, major weight loss, after giving birth, or aging. Regardless of the cause, it can be corrected with breast lift surgery. The goal of the surgery is to tighten and lift the breast. Also correct the shape, size and the appearance of the areola.

The approach will be different case by case, and can be categorized into 3 main groups:

  1. Periareolar: Recommended for individuals with minor breast sag.

  2. Vertical/Lollipop: Recommended for individuals with moderate breast sag.

  3. Inverted T/Anchor: Recommended for individuals with major breast sag.

Recommended for:

  • Individuals with sagging breasts.

Operation details:

After applying general anesthesia, the surgeon will cut open along the drawn outline as dictated by the degree of sag, and will remove the skin responsible for the sagging. In some cases, the surgeon may also remove part of the breast tissues, re-address the position of the areola and the shape of the breast, and then close the wound.

Post-operational treatments:

  1. Clean the area daily, avoid contact with water until suture removal date.

  2. Wear a sports bra for 2 months after the operation.

  3. Remove the suture on Day 7, after which the wound can be in contact with water.

  4. The breast will gradually take position within 6 months.

  5. The scar may be visible during the first 3 months, after which it will fade within 1 year.

Possible side-effects:

  • There may be postoperative bleeding, which will require reoperation to stop the bleeding.

  • Scars: Some patients may have hypertrophic scars, which can be treated by injecting steroid into the scar area.

  • Nipple numbness: In most cases, the numbness will be improved after 1 year.

  • Some patients may experience recurrent ptosis.
