This surgical approach will be suitable for individuals with oral commissures pointing downwards, resulting in a frowning facial appearance. The operation involves reconstructing the muscle pulling the oral commissures.
After the operation there may be a minor scar on each side of the oral commissure, which will gradually be less noticeable after 6-12 months. For individuals with natural-looking oral commissures, the operation will result in an overly extended, unnatural look.

Operation details:
After applying anesthesia, the surgeon will cut open the lip skin along the marking, and reconstruct the pulling muscle to the desired position. The surgeon will then stop the bleeding and close the wound.
Post-operational treatments:

Apply some cold packs to the area during the first 3 days.

Clean the area daily, avoid contact with water.

Remove the suture on Day 7. Patient can wash his/her face and apply makeup.

Swelling will typically be less noticeable after 3 months.

The operation cut may be visible during the first 3 months, and then will gradually be less noticeable within 1 year.

The degree of which the oral commissure will lift will depend on the individual’s own lip shape.
Possible side-effects:
There is a possibility of a minor scar around the oral commissure.
How long will the change last?
The change will last forever. The individual’s cheek will droop with age, which will in turn push down the oral commissures.
